In March 2026, SiroSilo developed and manufactured a new type of small box erector, which was showcased at the Sino-Pack 2026 exhibition.
Unlike the previous model, this new machine features significant improvements in both its exterior design and internal performance—let us walk you through the details.
What's Small Box
In the packaging industry, small boxes typically refer to folding cartons, with dimensions ranging from approximately 20x15x65mm to 150x200x250mm.
Based on the type of product being packaged, the size range for small boxes is as follows:
| Pharmaceutical/cosmetics boxes | L20-150mm x W15-100mm x H65-250mm |
| Food/daily necessities boxes | L40-100mm x W100-200mm x H120-250mm |
According to different die-cutting and creasing designs, small boxes can be categorized as:
- Tuck end box
- 123/1-2-3/snap lock bottom box
- Auto bottom box
- Mailer boxes
- Lid & base box
- Seal end carton
Small Box Erector
A small carton erector is a machine that automatically erects, folds, and bottom-seals flat cardboard box blanks into square boxes with an open top.
Types
Small box folding machines come in two types:
- Continuous Motion
A continuous small case erector operates without pauses between folding cycles.
The folding cycle only stops when the operator presses the stop or emergency stop button.
It’s like a car traveling on a highway; it only stops when the driver steps on the brakes and removes the key.
- Intermittent Motion
An intermittent small box case erector operates in a motion-pause-motion mode, pausing between folding cycles.
It’s like a car driving on a road with red lights at regular intervals; the interval between red lights is the time of one folding cycle.
Application
Undoubtedly, the production and promotion of small folding box machines aim to replace inefficient manual folding and improve packaging efficiency.
However, with the widespread adoption of cartoning machines that integrate folding, loading, and closing functions, why does the small box case erector still have a market?
Because some luxury goods are expensive, and mechanical loading may damage them, some irregularly shaped items are not suitable for mechanical packaging, and manual product loading may be more efficient.
For these types of products, combining folding carton erectors with manual product loading better meets customer requirements.
Working Principle
The core principle of a folding box machine is to precisely fold a flat piece of cardboard box blank into a three-dimensional box according to preset die-cutting & creasing lines through a series of automated mechanical motions.
This working principle can be broken down into the following three steps:
- Box Blank Feeding
The vacuum suction cups accurately pick up the bottom box blank and smoothly transport it to the box-forming station.
Then, vacuum suction cups at the bottom suck the cardboard blank into the forming station.
- Erecting, Folding, Bottom-closing
At the forming station, various cylinder-controlled mechanical components perform motions such as erecting the box, folding the dust flaps, folding the bottom closure panel, and inserting the bottom tuck flap.
- Closed Box Outputting
Finally, the formed box is first sucked into the ejection station by a vacuum suction cup and then ejected from the ejection port by a cylinder-controlled pusher.

Why SiroSilo
Here are 6 reasons for your reference.
- Because we are a small company with low-risk resistance, we pursue quality more, and you can send samples to test our machines.
- For a small & simple company, if you tell me, I can tell the boss directly; for a large & complex company, reporting from sales-manager-VP-boss takes up a lot of your time.
- Small companies have fewer employees and lower costs; large companies have to feed many people, and their costs are much higher.
- If you are not the largest customer of a large company, you will not be able to enjoy the best prices and services; but if you cooperate with us, you are our God.
- Machines from large companies will also have quality problems, when you ask them to provide on-site guidance, layer-by-layer reporting is inevitable; for SiroSilo, you only need to make a phone call to solve it in time, and your boss will be aware of your ability.
- As the saying goes, don’t put all your eggs in one basket, you also need backup suppliers in case of an urgent need, right?
